Beautifully Made In England
is proud of its long history of making fine upholstery of distinction and believes that the things you cannot see are just as important as those you can.
Wooden frames are made to the highest standards from carefully selected, seasoned hardwoods. Our modern wood mill includes a laminating and veneering department. All timber joints are dowelled, screwed and glued using modern adhesives.
In-house polishing allows us to offer a colour matching service on all of our exposed wood frames, legs and feet.
Only the best high-carbon steel wire is used in the manufacture of our springs to suite each piece whether it be mesh-top spring units, pocket spring units or sinuous (zig-zag) springs.
Selected from around the world and varying in texture and design, all fabrics are hand-cut by skilled cutters and are four-way matched. All seams are double-sewn for extra strength. We also provide a Customer's Own Material (COM) service whereby we will use material sent in by customers subject to it being approved as suitable for upholstery and your chosen model and subject to it conforming to the appropriate Fire Regulations (FR) whether that be domestic or contract depending on application.
The best, high quality leathers are used, sourced from tanneries across Europe. Each hide is individually inspected to eliminate unacceptable scars and blemishes. However, the beauty of having leather is that it is a natural product and this may mean variations in colour from hide to hide. Natural marks enhance the individuality of each hide giving character and distinguishing it from faux leather.
Each piece is individually upholstered by craftsmen who we train in-house. They use only the finest filling materials to ensure each piece of Art Forma upholstery gives many years of comfort. We regularly receive praise from customers who are still using their Art Forma sofas and chairs after 25 or 30 years!
(There are a number of options available:)
- Heat-treated pocket springs in varying firmness for back and seat cushions.
- High quality fibre fill.
- Foam with fibre wrap.
- Feather & down.
- Foam with feather wrap.
Cushion fillings are chosen by our designers to suit each model, but any of the above alternatives can be used. To prolong life, cushions should be turned regularly and feather and fibre cushions should be shaken
daily to maintain their shape - (see also 'Upholstery Care' section for more information about how to look after your upholstery)
